Down Stream Panic PSP – Reviewed

Well been a few weeks since my last review I’ve been pretty addicted to this game down stream panic I seen the previews for it a few weeks back and it looked like a cross between lemmings and loco roco then a cross with worms so I had to give it a try so here’s my review of this thing.

:: Basic Game ::

The game plays like a cross between loco roco and then lemmings and a little bit of worms kicked in for good measure. You start out as a guy helping little fishes try and get to the water without being eaten by the big fish at the bottom of the level and there is also piranha and birds that will snatch up and eat your little buddies if you don’t find ways to block them using such items as harpoons , trees to block them from going to one side , bombs and wind to open up gates.

:: Game play ::

Well game play is straight forward the level gives you a basic number of fish you have to have before you can finish the level. Then they give you i.e a bomb and a harpoon to fend off the baddies and navigate them through the area and try and save as many as you can. While doing this you can collect coins and use them to unlock other parts of the game such as free play modes. You also unlock mini play movies that push the story about the fishes trying to get to the water and how the birds and the piranha’s are out to get them. The game plays rather well with a worms style you hit start and they flood out of the top of the screen and you have to quickly engage the objectives move down and setup blocks and bomb rocks out of spots to get them safely to the bottom. The game does a great job with it’s physics water shifts when you bomb a corner all the water rushes perfectly to that one side. Game play is very solid and very addicting a quick game or sit down and play up to level 65 this game is very long especially in a puzzle style game

:: Graphics ::

The game takes a page out of the loco roco handbook for this it looks great lots of bright colorful levels and a cute vive with neat looking levels and a nicely animated water and cute design. It could look a ton better but the game does make up for it with it’s addicting game play. Nice on screen display showing weapon that you have and the count on how many fish’s you have and how many died.

:: Sound ::

What can you say the sound is creative sounds much like loco roco with odd music that is just addicting and funny the soundtrack fits the game really well. Only thing that was a bit off was fish start coming out of the water sound the same as they do when they get eaten by the bad guys at the very bottom so you can’t really tell from the sound what is really going on sometimes.

:: Conclusion ::

Great and addicting game it’s the kind of game you can pick up and play finish off a level in a few mins or spend a ton of time just figuring out the best way to solve the puzzles the game. I didn’t think I would enjoy this game but it’s really addicting the mix between the 3 big games this game hits spot on the look is cute but the game play is very solid and fun if your someone who really likes lemmings and liked loco roco this is the game. The mix blends so well. Sound could have been a bit better but other then that it’s a fun game with a lot of levels to play. Well worth the cost

8.5/10
