Army of Two - Review - Xbox 360

This game Kinda came out of no where i seen video of it from E3 and it looked like a Gears of war style game. Now it’s out and it’s time to get down and dirty and review this beast

Game Summery:

You play as a hired mercenary group of two guys who are paid to go in and get items or take out people. You Gather Intel on different origination’s and then take out leaders and get paid to acquire this information.

Game play:

This game plays much like call of duty 4 and Gears of war had a bastard child then that’s army of two. Its EA’s first attempt to take on the gears of war franchise this attempt isn’t bad but it’s not perfect. Controls are straight forward except for changing weapons with the other person on the team is a bit of a pain in the ass. The game has the same type of hide and shoots style you find in gears of war that was perfect at it. this game has problems with this such as you can’t lock on or roady run to a cover and lock in to place you have to walk up being bombarded with a ton of bullet fire while trying to cover and if your not on the cover properly you’ll know this soon since you’ll die or turn bright red from being hit so much. That was my major beef with this game was it took the same style from gears of war but failed to clone it right. This game has some unique features that make it stand out such as a deep gun system you can buy a gun and customize it from putting a better barrel for range to a 120 mag clip up to pimping the gun out to make the aggression on the gun to other people jump up. The only beef I have with this game it is how short the game is 6 missions it’s over it’s got 3 types of play to challenge users but I think EA was looking for was the multiplayer for this game it includes a big Co-op Online element So much like Gears you can team up and take on the bad guys and shove your size 10 boot up some asses. This game stands out A little by the management of Guns you can pretty much customize every bit of it then buy armor and helmets and even special weapons & a kick ass mini gun!

AI:

The games ai kind of buggy at times enemies will run past you and not notice you when you’re right beside them. Sometimes they are super shots and can nail you even being covered very well. I played it on hard and the ai can very much hold its own and none stop enemies coming at you they will work together and flank you and kick some major ass. The only bad thing I did notice was your AI partner is kind of a idiot your on the ground being nailed with bullets and need to be healed instead of helping you he runs up ahead and gets killed even though you commanded him to stay beside you. This might be fixed via a patch but it’s still annoying.

Sound:

The sound in the game is pretty damn spot on. Witty quotes in the cut scenes or funny little sayings your guy makes. Not much background music but hey it’s a first person shooter who needs a soundtrack?

Graphics:

How can you say this game looks really good very nicely detailed textures the characters are very detailed and have a lot of style from fire flames helmets to better armor the outdoors looks very good and very clean. Water looks really really good especially in the china level. The game does a very good job on the graphics and makes up a little for the dodgy lock-on system if you’re an owner of a high def TV you’ll love the way this game looks its very nice and the lighting is prefect in some levels. I did notice a few hiccups in graphics here and there but nothing major.

Final Thought:

This game plays much like a call of duty / gears of war style game it plays very well for what it does it’s a great game plays fun but it’s very very short 6 missions and it leaves you saying that’s it? WTF? The multiplayer is where its made for it’s made for Co-op play over Xbox live or PSN network. The game has a major depth with it’s customizability and the game looks and sounds great. Personally I enjoyed the game But it’s not worth 60$ since on how short the Single player / Co-op Story line is. Mutli player does make up for it but For the same price you could go buy Gears of war and Have a lot of these elements My verdict would be to rent this game or wait for the price to drop or unless you’re like me and addicted to First person shooters then this game isn’t to bad and you’ll have fun massacring tons of enemies
