I bet everyone’s at least tried Mario party at some point the addicting mini games and usually pretty fun game play. last few years they been pumping them out faster and faster now this time it’s on the DS time to see if this one’s a winner or just another loser?

Basics:
You play as the Mario and friends crew playing the odd board game we’ve all grown to love and sometimes hate to say we have played. The game includes a story mode and a party mode and then a mini game mode and multiplayer (none online game play)

Game play:
straight forward you are one of franchise favorites and your ready to go. Playing mini games the mini games this time around use the touch a lot and then the mic in some of the mini games a creative usage. This game includes a bunch of unique mini games and then every board includes a boss battle that’s unique to each of the boards in the game. The game includes 5 boards to be explored each with their own hazards and style such as a toady level to a castle level. Using the mic in some of the mini games worked well but other times it was kind of a pain if you’re in a nosey place.

Graphics :
The game looks alright the levels are unique the characters look good and detailed. Mini games are pretty well done they look good some don’t but they’re mini games can’t expect gold from them all.

Sound :
The sound is not bad Mario does his normal sounds and yoshi and wario all make their little sounds when moving around the board. Cheesy background music to keep you busy while waiting for your turn.

Final Thoughts:
This game is not to bad but it’s not near perfect. I was expecting to hop onto WFC (Nintendo’s wireless network) and play Mario party with other people around the world but that doesn’t work out like I’ve planed they didn’t include WFC only wireless multi player for local play only. Kind of a pain since the reason to buy Mario party would be to play it online with other people since it is a party game and made for that reason and that reason only. The game plays pretty good since it’s just a ton of mini games lots of unlock-able mini games and 5 boards to play on. After beating them it it loses its fun with the lack of online play to keep this game alive for a while longer. Maybe next Mario party on the ds they will include multiplayer over WFC. If this included multiplayer it would have been golden felt like this game was a bit pushed out before it was ready since almost every Nintendo branded ds game has some kind of online ties. My personal feeling this game is a little over priced for now buy it used if you are going to buy it since it will get boring quick if you don’t have people around you with a ds and the same game.

I totally thought Mario party: ds had WFC. I mean when you see the commercials, I know you see the kids connected locally but you’d of thought it would have been a no brainier. oh well. I might just buy this anyways.
